From Riga to Dubai: Alessandro Rocco Pietrocola’s Journey of Entrepreneurship and Global Business Leadership

Some entrepreneurs build one company and spend their careers perfecting it. Others build the capability to build companies, repeatedly, across borders, industries, and market cycles. They learn, each time, what makes a business worth investing in, and what makes it worth walking away from.

Alessandro Rocco Pietrocola's career belongs firmly to the second kind. Based in Dubai and known today as a Business Advisor, Entrepreneur, and Investor, Alessandro has spent more than two decades founding, leading, and investing in businesses across Italy, Latvia, the United Kingdom, and the UAE, building an operating philosophy centred on sourcing the right opportunities, aligning the interests of management with those of shareholders, and staying close to the operational realities that determine whether a business actually works.

His recognition with a Doctor of Excellence (Honoris Causa) from East Bridge University honours that body of work—not years spent in a classroom, but two decades spent building it in the field. The self paced, career focused design has helped him pursue an Applied Doctorate program that can be applied directly into real workplace challenges rather than abstract theory.

An Engineer's Start, an Entrepreneur's Instinct
Alessandro's foundation began at Liceo Scientifico, where he studied mathematics and computer science, before completing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, one of Italy's most respected technical universities. Engineering gave him something that would define his later career: a habit of breaking complex systems down into their working parts, whether the system in question was a piece of software or an entire company.

His early professional years moved through several distinct disciplines in quick succession—as an Author with Centro Stampa Chiandetti in Udine, and later as an Insurance Manager with IW Bank in Milan. Rather than settling into one function, he was, in effect, sampling the mechanics of different industries before deciding which ones he wanted to build within.

Learning the Mechanics of International Business
The real turning point came with a move to Riga, Latvia, where Alessandro worked as a Project Manager with Sia Marketing Consulting, a Baltic service provider specialising in company formation, accounting, and business management. It was here that he learned the operational backbone of international business—not the strategy slide, but the actual mechanics of registering, structuring, and running companies across jurisdictions.

He put that knowledge to direct use almost immediately, co-building two ventures of his own. As Director of Meetiss Ltd, he helped grow an international service provider offering company formation, trust structuring, accounting, and wealth protection to entrepreneurs operating globally, with offices spanning London, Hong Kong, Auckland, and Riga. At the same time, as Director of Sia Moirae, trading as itservices4all.com, he led a software venture developing iOS and Android apps, e-commerce platforms, and bespoke software for companies—giving him a foothold in both the legal-structural side of global business and its technological engine room.

Building a Holding Company, Then a Global Group
In December 2010, Alessandro founded Pietrocola Holding, with a clear ambition: to become a holding company for a portfolio of businesses across the UK and abroad, with major interests in the UK, Hong Kong, the UAE, and New Zealand. The model he built was deliberately disciplined—sourcing and evaluating opportunities, structuring and executing transactions, and focusing on sectors including paralegal firms, family office firms, regulated financial firms, software and app developers, luxury real estate, and web media. As CEO, a role he has now held for close to sixteen years, his approach has centred on becoming a co-founder or early investor who adds real operational value, rather than a passive capital source.

Less than a year later, he extended that ambition to Dubai, founding Astorts Group as Chief Executive Officer—a role he still holds today. Astorts Group operates as an international consulting firms group with subsidiaries in London and Singapore, working across fintech, techfin, software development, import and export, real estate, oil and gas, and wealth management. His role there mirrors the discipline built over the previous decade: setting strategic direction across every part of the business, and keeping leadership alert to shifting markets, competitors, and industry standards before those shifts become risks.

Between 2014 and 2023, Alessandro also served as Managing Director of Cuefin Ltd, a broker authorised and regulated by the UK's Financial Conduct Authority, where his responsibilities included expanding the client base, developing new business models, and ensuring the organisation stayed compliant with regulatory requirements—work that added a layer of regulatory fluency to his broader entrepreneurial toolkit. From 2017, he also led ARP Endeavour Ltd as Executive Director, a marketing and consulting venture built specifically to develop his own personal and professional brand.
In 2020, with a career already built across four countries, Alessandro added one more credential to the mix, completing Draper University's Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship programme in Silicon Valley—widely regarded as one of the world's leading entrepreneurial training grounds. A fellow participant from that programme later described him as sharp, wise, and unusually good at connecting people to bigger opportunities than they had first imagined for themselves.

What the Doctor of Excellence Recognises
A Doctor of Excellence (Honoris Causa) is awarded differently from a research-based or coursework doctorate. It does not require years of academic study—it is conferred in recognition of demonstrated leadership, entrepreneurial achievement, and sustained contribution to business and investment, built and proven in practice rather than in a classroom.
For Alessandro, that recognition reflects more than two decades spent founding and leading businesses across four countries, building an investment philosophy grounded in operational discipline, and helping entrepreneurs and organisations structure themselves for genuine international growth. It is a distinction worth naming precisely: not a claim to formal doctoral research, but a formal acknowledgement of the kind of practical excellence that shapes markets from within them.

Recognising Leadership Built Across Borders
East Bridge University congratulates Alessandro Rocco Pietrocola on receiving the Doctor of Excellence (Honoris Causa), and welcomes him to its global community of honorary doctoral recipients.

His journey offers a valuable perspective for entrepreneurs and investors building careers across borders: expertise is not always built through a single company or a single market. Sometimes it is built the way Alessandro built his—company by company, jurisdiction by jurisdiction, until the pattern of what makes a business genuinely work becomes second nature. For professionals whose leadership has been proven in boardrooms, deal rooms, and international markets rather than in the classroom, East Bridge University's Honoris Causa recognitions offer a way to formally acknowledge achievements already earned.
