Dr. Pinaki Ranjan Aich's Rise in Global Risk and Compliance
Governance, risk, and compliance is a field built on trust — the trust that a certification means what it claims, that a control actually controls, that an audit finding will be acted on rather than filed away. Few careers illustrate the patient, evidence-driven work behind that trust better than that of Dr. Pinaki Ranjan Aich, CISA — Lead Audit and Compliance Specialist at Aptean India, published author, and the newest Doctor of Excellence (Honoris Causa) from East Bridge University. His path from a customer service desk in Bengaluru to the executive reporting rooms of multinational technology and financial firms is a study in how technical depth, compounded year over year, becomes leadership.
Building the Foundation, One Certification at a Time
Dr. Aich's entry into technology was hands-on and early. Long before his formal engineering degree, he trained at the Indian Institute of Hardware and Networking Technology in Jamshedpur, where he founded a student cybersecurity discussion group and competed in hackathons — an early signal of the specialization that would come to define his career. He went on to complete his Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering at the Gandhi Institute of Engineering & Technology, and later layered on a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management from SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, a Diploma in Cyber Law jointly from Government Law College Mumbai and the Asian School of Cyber Laws, and — while already working full-time in GRC leadership — a Master of Technology in Cybersecurity from the REVA Academy for Corporate Excellence. It is a credentialing path that mirrors his professional one: broad technical grounding, followed by deliberate, sustained specialization in the discipline of risk and assurance.
A Career Built Audit by Audit
Dr. Aich's professional trajectory reads as a steady climb through some of the most recognized names in global technology and consulting. He began in operational roles — as a Project Trainee at Tata Motors and a Customer Service Associate at The Minacs Group — before moving into IT service delivery at DXC Technology, where he first began developing and implementing information security policies aligned with ISO 27001. From there, his career turned decisively toward compliance: as Senior Consultant for Security & Compliance at Technoforte Software, he worked directly with Toyota Kirloskar Motors, delivering internal audit and compliance programs spanning SOX, ISO 27001, and IT general controls (ITGC).
That specialization deepened through roles at Synophic Systems, where he developed and executed annual audit plans aligned to organizational risk priorities, and at Capgemini, where as a Senior Consultant and GRC & Security Solution Architect he led complex, end-to-end audit engagements across client environments — from budgeting and scheduling to executive-level reporting on risk, impact, and remediation cost. As Principal Information Security at First American India, he took ownership of the company's full regulatory and cyber audit function, managing SOC 1, SOC 2, and SOX ITGC frameworks while conducting lender audits and control attestations that kept the organization audit-ready year-round.
Today, as Lead Audit and Compliance Specialist at Aptean India — a role he has held since 2024 — Dr. Aich leads enterprise-wide governance, risk, and compliance programs across multiple business units. Under his leadership, the team manages more than 25 SOC reports and five ISO 27001 certifications annually, a volume of assurance work that speaks to both the scale of his responsibility and the operational discipline required to sustain it. He has driven enterprise risk management and third-party risk management programs, led M&A security assessments, and standardized audit evidence collection processes to improve efficiency without compromising rigor — work that ultimately protects the organizations and stakeholders who depend on Aptean's systems being what they claim to be.
Beyond the Audit Trail: Author, Researcher, Mentor
Dr. Aich's contribution to the field extends beyond his day-to-day audit work. He is the author of Exploring the Role of AI in Enhancing Cybersecurity: Perspectives and Challenges, a book examining how artificial intelligence is reshaping the discipline he has spent over a decade practicing — a natural extension of a GRC leader who has spent his career translating emerging technical risk into governance frameworks organizations can actually act on. He remains active in applied research through his ongoing academic work, and lists himself as open to volunteering in health, science, technology, and environmental causes, alongside a professional network approaching 10,000 followers built on consistent, substantive engagement with the audit and compliance community.
The Doctorate and What It Represents
Dr. Aich completed his Doctorate in Business Management at East Bridge University between August 2024 and November 2025, with a specialization in Advanced Strategic Leadership, Organizational Transformation, and Change Management, receiving the Doctor of Excellence (Honoris Causa). In the spirit of transparency that Bridge Forward extends to every honorary conferral, it is worth noting plainly what this recognition is and isn't: an honorary doctorate is not equivalent to a traditionally earned, dissertation-based PhD, and it does not require the multi-year original research such a degree entails. What it does formally recognize is a career of sustained, verifiable professional impact — in Dr. Aich's case, over a decade spent building and leading GRC functions at organizations whose scale and regulatory exposure leave little room for error, culminating in his current stewardship of enterprise-wide compliance for a global software firm.
For a professional whose entire discipline is built on verifying claims against evidence, that distinction is one Dr. Aich would likely insist on himself.
Discipline Built on Consistency
What distinguishes Dr. Aich's career isn't a single breakout achievement but the compounding effect of doing unglamorous, exacting work — control testing, evidence collection, stakeholder reporting — consistently and well, across seven organizations and more than a decade. It is a reminder that in fields built on trust, credibility is rarely won through a single moment. It is built audit by audit, certification by certification, until an organization's leadership — and, eventually, an entire industry — simply assumes the controls will hold. Bridge Forward congratulates Dr. Pinaki Ranjan Aich on this recognition, and looks forward to following his continued work at the intersection of governance, artificial intelligence, and organizational trust.
